When the constant horse constitantly looses....
-
One of my prettier two year old show horses with a nice (for a second gen, I guess) PT score, consistent... checks all the boxes for me.
And she always looses. :( She has one point. One little lonely point. She is far behind all of my other two year olds.
Is she worth keeping to see if she improves or should I auction her? (With much sadness)

Some horses aren't destined to be show horses. If you consider selling her I'll take herLicensed for Mushroom,Onyx, Watercolor, Ice 13, ice 16, Phantom lace, Phantom Diamond sparkle.

She’s spayed because she failed breeding advice.
If you want her, does that mean I should be keeping her? :)) What would you pay? -
Some horses don't do well as they level up. That can be because they're making more progress with each training session, meaning they'll eventually reach higher levels (more potential at level off). Those earning points now are more likely spending more time at each level, giving them more chance to rack up points now but less potential to reach the higher levels later. If it were me, I would be patient - she may end up your best show mate if you give her the time.

She has a nice PT score, give her 3-4 months, and she will probably pay you hrestly for your patience. She definitly have a future as a show horse, if you have space for her in your barn. :)Thanked by 1ConfluenceStable

I agree, it is seldom the youngsters that rake in the wins. She's showing against the big kids now, and she still has some things to learn.

You really can’t tell what sort of a show horse a horse will be until they level off (in about 8 months for her)
PT scores don’t even tell you if a horse will be a good show horse or not. It just tells you approximately when the horse will level off (around when it’s age reaches its PT score) and roughly how many points per training session it will earn towards its show score. (It’s been a long time since I’ve tracked training points so can’t tell you the division line between how many points each PT score learns)
Horses with low PT scores earn less points per training session so they stick around each level and have a better chance at earning points while they work their way up the levels.
Higher PT horses sort of rocket up the lower levels and if they miss being in a good spot the first week often just miss being competitive by leveling up the next week low into the next level. They need time to find their legs and some bigger competition then they will start to place better and because there is more competition they earn more points per show so will catch up (and usually but not always surpass the lower pt horses total points)
