Curiosity led the cat, leaderboards.
  • So as they say curiosity led the cat but satisfaction brought it back, I take that saying much to this.

    I'm very curious about how horses get on the leaderboards in the clubs for the horses ( sorry forgot the names oops)

    I notice horses on the leaderboards all the time when registering them but never fully knew how they where chosen to get there...would someone mind explaining?
    Dont let me over spend-

  • To further this inquiry, what allows a stallion to be placed on the LB? for example, ive seen horses who have 3YOs but no foals and are listed as #1
    Is due to protege show performance, breeding performance, etc.?
  • Except for top producing stallion and mare, the title of the leaderboard basically tells you what the criteria are; High PT score, and points earned.

    Here is a post Ammit made back in 2017 about the top producers board, that I believe is still in place;

    "How things work on the lb for top stud and mare have changed slightly so I wanted to give a rundown.

    Anytime you look at a horse's page it checks them for foals and then updates their foal score if they qualify for the LB. It zero outs the foal score for any horse that does not qualify.
    To qualify for the LB a horse must have a living foal that is less then 3 years old (that is foals born the current or prior year).
    Stallions must have a minimum of 10 foals, mares a minimum of 3.
    The act of breeding a horse will also trigger a foal score update on both sire and dam. You do not need to pull up the pages of breeders from today on to get on the LB.
    Foal scores are not dropped at the end of the season. That means horses that no longer qualify for the LB are not auto kicked off. To force an update just open that horse's page and they will be removed.

  • Interesting. Im going to hopefully guess that foal score means PT & consistency...at least it makes the most sense. I had an LB stud drop from 7 to 21 and about 30 of his foals this year were bootstrap babies.
    It also doesn't mention showing in that post...dies that mean then it does not account for showing results if offspring into its calc?
  • For the top producing stallion/mare, showing the foals won't change anything

  • That's part of the beauty of not having access to the breeding "scores". We can make some pretty decent decisions using PT, but we have to use trial and error to figure out breeding ability. Is it quality, or just quantity? :P
