Color confusion
-
Now that I've been playing for a bit I'm actually looking more and more at the genetics. I've got a descent grasp on most of it, but I am still confused with sooty. I know S- is non sooty, Ssty- is sooty, but what does S+ mean? Is it dom, rec, a rare?
-
S+ stands for Sooty +. It is a more aggressive form of darkening than ordinary Ssty, and often causes dapples.
Here's an S+S bay. If you look closely you can see the dapples.
Shower 3119087
An S+Ssty bay
Visions Tropical Isle
An SS+ bay dun
3362807
dapples even show up on this S+S chestnut
Ordinary Scar
S+Ssty Palomino Dun, with dapples
Beautiful Angel
That should give you some idea of the possibilities.
It is dominant, and fairly rare. It costs 20 GMT tokens per copy in the GMT Lab. -
Wow, beautiful with the dapples. Definitely going to have to get some S+. Thanks so much! I love adding more to my learning. Loving this community!
-
I have this S+ Ssty stud colt if you're interested @shewolfmustang27, he's A papered and about as good as sire

You're very welcome. I enjoy helping new players learn about such things.
-
@Jessj yes I am interested and he fits in along with the colors I like too lol. What would you want for him?
-
@SandyCreekAcres thanks so much again. I'm so glad I found this game. Everyone is so helpful I'm sure I would have quit by now otherwise.
-
@SheWolfMustang27 shoot me an offer, I'd love to see him go to a home where he'll be used rather than snipped :)
-
It's such a complex game that everyone has a steep learning curve when starting out. However, since we're not in competition with each other, it's easy to have a friendly, cooperative community. Our "opponent" tends to be the life-like variability built into the game that makes it almost impossible to predict exactly what will happen when we breed to horses together or enter a horse in a show. :D
-
@Jessj is 5k reasonable?
-
@SheWolfMustang27 I'll do 4k, just to help cover testing :)
-
@Jessj sounds good to me. Do you have a chat room?
-
I dont, are you part of any?
-
No unfortunately. Can you put him up for sale and I come get him that way?
-
Absolutely :) I'll do that now
-
Awesome. Thanks :)
-
You're welcome, enjoy! I hope he does well for you
-
Thank you. I hope he does too.
