Rank Specials not all current era?
-
I was just wondering, are rank specials always of the era they were originally introduced, or of the era they were born, or is it a mix? I have several rank specials that are era 6 or before, even though I only joined last october, well into era 7.
And while I'm at it, does anyone happen to know when the eras change over?ID #238663, she/her pronouns -
Rank Specials are not all the same in breeding ability. Some are Perfect Foundations, some are Exceptional Producers, and some are Exceptionally Perfect. Perfect Foundation Rank Specials will be placed in the current Era. Since Exceptional Producers and Exceptionally Perfect horses are a paper level higher than Perfect Foundations, they are placed in the previous era because they are equivalent to 2nd generation horses. That is, their paper level is equivalent to the paper level of the best 2nd generation foals produced by Perfect Foundations.
However, the primary effect of Era number is to determine which of the Era Breeding Clubs a horse is eligible for, and there is really no benefit to stressing over a horse's era number. The color and pattern breeding clubs are open to horses of all eras.
The other effect of Era numbers is that when horses of different eras are bred together, the foal is placed in the era of the parent with the lowest era number. Example: An Era 4 stallion bred to an Era 7 mare produces a foal that is placed in Era 4.
I really don't think anyone is particularly fussy about eras when breeding horses. It only makes a difference in the Era Breeders Club the foal can be placed in.
As for when eras change, that happens when Ammit decides to change it, based on criteria only she knows. :)
