White Spotted Liver Red Dun Roan Question
-
PF XP W2 Liver Reddunroan
I love the way she was randomly created. Would adding another d2 gene increase her Dun markings? -
The D is what is giving her the dun markings I believe if you take it away she wouldn't have any Dun markings.
-
Short answer: No :)
Long answer:
- Dun (D) is a complete dominant, meaning one copy shows the same as two.
- Non-Dun1 (nd1) gives primitive markings without dillution, but is recessive to D.
- Non-Dun2 (nd2) is a "plain" horse - no dillution and no primitive markings.ID 195859 -
BUT, if you want all her foals to have the dun gene, you would have to change nd2 to D :)ID 195859
-
Thank you, So adding D would do nothing to her markings?
-
Thanks!
-
I just changed her from ND2 to nd1.

Love her! If you decide to sell eggs in the future... ;)
-
Wow she is absolutely gorgeous! I found one more thing to breed for in the future...on top of the hundred or so that I have in mind.
