Breeding Advice / help
-
I had a few questions
1) Does inbreeding have any effect on the foals in this game?
2) Lethal white: is this the gene that I need to look at for that? WF: Large or is it one of the other ones. if it is the gene which variations of it should not be bred together to avoid stillborn foals? example large x large = higher chance of dead foal?
3) if inbreeding isn't a problem which of my 3 A boys would you pick for this Blue girl?

1. Inbreeding has no effect.
2. Sounds like you get WF for the most part. Someone has a chart that explains lethal genes better than I can.
3. Lemme look. -
I would pick the bay roan or chestnut. But I don't know your goals.

As long as the link works correctly this should be the Lethal White chart.

here is the link to the discussion of lethal white that is on server 2 :) you should be able to see it even if you don't have an account over there

basically white factor is only a risk if there are potential lethal white genes present. this horse for example is a simple, not white chestnut with an extensive white factor. https://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=4743575
because she doesn't have any potentially lethal genes, i wouldn't need to be careful breeding her, if she were intact, because her white factor itself won't really do anything. I guess in short, White Factor is not what's lethal. It's the Kit Genes that are lethal. White Factor, Splash, and Frame are 'boosters" that up the chance of a dead foal.
As and example, here is a colt from a pairing with extensive white factors. No white genes involved. All that was involved were splash from the sire and extensive WF. I really hope this makes sense and doesn't sound like i'm babbling!

thanks for the help! The h&J link wanted me to log into the other server but looking at the picture bluch posted I think I starting to get the idea. I had 2 lethal whites so far this month and I think it was because the horses had white and kit genes on both parents.

Other than white load on some KIT mutations, frame is the lethal white gene. Homozygous frame always results in a dead foalThanked by 1SandyCreekAcres

It is also in the Players Guide under Helpful Hints. There's lots of cool stuff in there!
