Bred for this colt yesterday and he’s exactly what I’m going for in my Appaloosa draft line, but issue is he is as good as his dad. I’m having a hard time decidingLicensed for Mushroom,Onyx, Watercolor, Ice 13, ice 16, Phantom lace, Phantom Diamond sparkle. -
In my barns, all colts must be superior. I don't make exceptions. Since your boys sire is a B papered foundation, i personally would require A papered sons. I always cull on papers before i even look at their color. That being said, i am fairly certain you can get this color again. But you by no means have to follow the same guidelines i do. I'm just getting super strict with my lines and i snip a LOT of horsesBluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

Well he passed BA, so that's a good thing. And if he's perfect then you should keep him intact. I can't remember how exactly it's done or worded but just because he's "as good as his sire" does not mean that he can't be worse, as good as or better than his sire. I hope somebody with more knowledgeable on this explains this better. But all in all he is a good keeper!

My motto is if the horse makes you pause long enough to debate whether you should cull then cull it.
There’s always next year and the year after and the year after (the stud has 6 more years and he mare 13 before they could age out)
I don’t find it trrribly difficult to get intact superior sons (or multiple superior sons) from my studs especially when pasture bred mares with the 30 day bonus. I would definitely snip him and stick her in the pasture and try again next year.Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes -
......unless you want to boost him! :p
