linebred?
  • Apparently I'm thickheaded. Would this foal be considered uneven?

    His parents are both foundation, but his sire'a a B while his dam is only Yellow. I'm culling my barns and wanted to cull everything I can't use I linebreed. Hopefully it'll sink into my skull this time. :))

  • Yes and no. He is even generations but uneven papers. Does that matter? To some people, yes. To others, no.
  • There are far more players who insist on even generations than there are who also require even paper levels. You are more likely to get intact foals from even paper levels, though.

  • This stallion throws a lot of intacts no matter the mare, so I got lucky there. Just wanted to make sure I was good as long as they were both foundation level. He gives higher level foals from a red, but that's to be expected. Color quality is about even. Thank you. It had sunk in better than I thought. :))

  • No-one really worries about same paper levels, unless you yourself want to breed same papers to have more chance at intact foals. Once the foals passed ba/sba it's the even generations that makes a difference when selling. I breed red foundation stallions to yellow foundation mares all the time

  • I was hoping so because it's a lot of work for me to remember to bred same gen let alone paper. My mind doesn't work that way very well. :))
  • I use prefixes to organize which generation my horses are and then just match the prefixes so that the foal stays even and all of the same generation is sorted together.

    I use JS for my studs and JL for my mares and starting with the second generation (foals of foundations) I add one letter of the alphabet and each generation gets the next letter.

    a= 2nd Gen, b= 3rd Gen etc.

    Then I pair JSa to JLa and JSb to JLb

  • I agree with the above. I *only* breed even pedigrees but I’m not so picky about even paper levels. :)

  • I'm trying :)) when I don't get carried away!
  • Naming makes it so much easier! Even if you’re just using their ID #, I’ll add a 2/3/4/5 etc. after their number. That way even if I never give them proper names, I can easily breed them to the correct generation.

  • Might have to try that. I like giving them names but after a bit it becomes difficult coming up with original names.
  • You could always go back and rename them! Sometimes it’s easier to just organize off the bat by generation then go back in and give them proper names. :)

  • If you want an idea of weird names that can be given to horses then you should check out my barns! =)) =))
  • I've picked up a few from a couple different people :))
