After much speculation...
-
After much speculation I believe my stud CoatOfCrowns, who started as a candy Appaloosa but I added cream, Kit Promoter and Snowflake is either heterozygous Dense Phelomin or Homozygous. Here are just a few examples of his foals :D and if I am wrong please correct me :)

It's possible he's het but some of those foals look normal/non dp to me so i don't think he is hom dp.
Just looked at his other foals and he is definitely not homozygous dp. This is a StySty palomino mare by him. If he were hom dp, she'd be a chocolate palomino.

@HayesStable thank you! I am trying to get this down pact. There are more oddly dark foals just didn't want to spam lolThanked by 1HayesStable

If you want to send straws, i can even breed him to some mares on the public breeding list and see what happens. I will yum all the resulting foals :) Just an option. I'm so curious now lolBluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

@HayesStable this is a foal out of a liver chestnut pearl mare maybe in no lt as good with DP as I think I am lol

Those are AtAt, though. At lightens the coat more when homozygous.ID 195859

Still some beautiful babies non the less ;D

Thanks everyone. I guess I should probably just give up learning this Dense Phelomin thing.
-
No! Dont give up! The more you try the more you learn! I still dont have DP down in anything other then chestnut based horses!
-
Thank you @Bambi207 maybe I should save up to put DP on a few horses and try learning from there
-
That would be a good place to start! Once it comes back on the roving gene sales I might splurge on it myself!
I love brown and dark buckskins but since I dont understand how DP and brown horses work yet, that's my next project
I would love to recreate this boy!

Rutledge, I have lots of DP in my barn - mostly red-based. Feel free to explore! 221914
Lots of my foundation stallions are homozygous DP. -
I pomised to try to explain DP browns etc a while ago, I did even started a post but had no time to finish it. I will try and see if I can get a good explanation out this monday, as DP browns/bays/bucks are a lot harder to see and thus need a lot more examples!
In the meantime, feel free to look at my E? based DP horses (and see how they compare to yours or to horses with the same genetics but without my DP prefix).

And above all: don't give up! It took me quite some time to learn it too (and I am still mistaken from time to time) but that is what learning is about! And it is more fun if you get it after some hard times trying to understand it than when it would be clear at the first sight right?HJ1 160524
