Chocolate Rythm
-
I am working on established a chocolate Palomino line in game.
My foundation stallion is a Class B rythm of four. I will be breeding him to 3 mares, one rythm of four, one red dun and one chocolate Palomino, all selected from my mares for having at least one e allele and homozygous for Sooty.
I will be breeding his son who is probably heterozygous DP to his daughter by the rythm of four mare. That pair is A/Blue papered. Their foals will be broun buckskin, since she is EE and AtAt. He is Ee Ata.
Goals for the line are a) chocolate Palomino coloration and b) high paper levels, working up to Star/Gold stock.
As I get better quality mares and more selection for stallions, I plan to auction off the lower rated foundation stock. Does this sound like a solid plan to get the color? Should I be looking for recessive or dominant flaxen in the line?
-
What bone weight are you looking for? I think I have some foundation chocolate palomino drafts if you're looking for more.ID #238663, she/her pronouns

Myself, I would not breed the half siblings. I know that it has no bearing on the game mechanics, but I try to create in-game horses as I would in real life if I could, at least on my non-bootstrapped line. Totally a personal choice for you, but it sounds like those babies would be something I'd be interested in buying down the line, but they're no use to my line if inbred.Post edited by LenasHollywood at 2019-02-18 16:24:44

My main chocolate palomino line is warmblood horse, with a second draft horse line. Unfortunately, my account is fairly new, so I am usually strapped for cash. A nice auction on Sunday let me buy three investment vouchers toward another 15 stall barn.
As for in breeding, in real life I would be hesitant to breed two animals who shared a grandparent in common. In game, that is not an issue. Part of the reason for the half sibling cross is the fact that the stallion is A papered, the mare is Blue, both are homozygous for Sooty, and both have DP, although none of the foals would be ee due to the mare's genetics.
This is probably going to be very much a bootstrap line. Most of the stallions will probably be from the cross between
TG Dark Moon Rythm
to
TG Smallville Rythm
I am drawing more mares from mares, I added two more that are EE, that are also homozygous for Sooty. These are a mix of black, buckskin and a chocolate palomino.
TG Scharfenberger
I have a Bay filly coming in April and three more fillies coming into the line in May. None of these have cream, but all are homozygous for Sooty, the DP does not show on gene testing, so that is a bit more hit or miss. -

I am losing my basic upgrade in a week. Can I still use straws in March?

I love the way the color turned out on Dark Moon's son.
TG Dark Side of the Moon
X
TG Lunaville Rythm
All foals will be Brown, Buckskin or Perlino. I hope to get more A/Blue foals and maybe even Star/Gold foals, though. I do hope to get some high quality Ee foals from them. 50/50 shot though.Post edited by TimidGoddess at 2019-02-18 18:47:57 -
Revised breeding plan:
Alternate between
TG Dark Moon Rythm
and
TG CR Foundation
To foundation mares
Then cross
JBG1 Limited Chocolate
And
Dark Side of the Moon to the first generation first generation mares.
I am selecting foundation mare based on homozygous sooty, chocolate palomino, dark chocolate somatic tattoos and rhythm of four somatic tattoos. Second generation will be selected from homozygous sooty intact foals of foundation crosses.
Two foundation stallions will let me alternate and avoid breeding half siblings. Two first generation stallions will also increase the gene pool and avoid half sibling crosses in a few months/game years when my second generation fillies mature.
Auction any foals with PT under 10 or under lower parent's score since most are higher.
Auction any foals under higher parent's PT score to improve line.
Then evaluate second generation as they get to breeding age.

First Fillial generation horses. Just one mare this year, 2 more in July breeding season and a half dozen, give or take, in August breeding season.
I am getting very excited about this line of colors.

Given how low this boy is, I probably won't keep any colts intact, but I will get Flaxen in the line, might get a liver or chocolate from my new boy crossed to the chocolate palomino mare. -
