  • Whoops! How about now?
  • Bluchrystals- You are correct now! Nicely done.
  • I had tests on that in science class in grade school! Surprised I remembered how to do it though. :D

  • I am so confused still as to what you guys are doing or talking about...It all looks like gibberish to me. XD
  • Possibilities, @Wolvevenfrost, possibilities...of the foals. :D
  • Wolvevenfrost, Monsterpony presented 3 possible breedings. The stallion ('cause stallions are usually listed first) is bay, and his genetics would, partially (Just the parts that make him bay) appear on the genetic testing results as Ee Aa.

You may already know this part, but, just in case other and/or new players don't know; the first two letters of the genetic list are referred to as extension (that's where the ee's come from). These are the genes that decide if the horse will be black or red based. The the aa letters are used to describe agouti which decides if the horse is Bay or not.

Genotypes describes what color the horse REALLY is, usually by running a genetic test. Phenotype is how the darned thing actually looks. Phenotype is what gets confused when you see a black liver chestnut. Just looking at the horse, if you didn't know better, you would say it is black. You would need to run all kinds of expensive tests to analyze the genetics of the horse to know it was actually (genotypically) chestnut. Or, I suppose, you could see what color it's parents were and guess!

Then MonsterpPony proposed crossing that stallion with 3 different colored mares, and showed the mares first few genes.

The answers are ALL the different combinations that could result from the 3 breedings she originally proposed, using the limited information she provided. Some people did actual math (shudder) to show the percentage chance of the different colors they put in their answers.

My answer was my standard goofy response!

    Does that help?

  • I have a much more detailed graphic I made like 10+ years ago. Just have no idea where I would have saved it at this point. I think it is on my old external hard drive...which is somewhere...probably...
