Straws and Eggs from horses with no descendants will start expiring
-
When horses are sent to the archive it checks for living descendants and anyone owning straws/eggs from that horse. This has resulted in a large backlog of horses who have been dead for years but can't clear out because no one is using those straws/eggs. Often because they are in inactive accounts.
If the new system catches a horse with no decedents but does have eggs/straws it will put a 4-year expiration date on those straws/eggs. That means you have 4 seasons to use those straws/eggs up before they vanish.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

Thanks Ammit for doing this to improve the game! One question though: is there any way that we could sort the straws/eggs by the time they will expire?
I have quite a lot of straws and eggs so it is hard to see which ones need 'urgent' attention and which ones can wait for some time.
I also noticed that you can only see the expire date on the 'sell a straw/egg' page, not when you want to use a straw. For me personally (as an owner of way too many straws) it would be a great addition if I could see the expire date when I want to use them as well :)

Would this affect straws and eggs for active accounts that want to preserve their old lines? IE, I have straws from beloved foundation stallions that I've hung on to with plans to use them to preserve the sire line. Will those straws disappear too?
-
Forestshadow, someone asked that question on the Forest server and here is Ammit's answer:Any horse with an actual living descendent is unaffected by this change. If the line is still actively being bred, I am happy to keep it around.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

Whelp, I guess that is some motivation to go through my gigantic stockpile of straws hahahah!

Thanks, LakeOndowa.

I like this idea. I'm sure I have some old straws hanging around that I'm convinced I will use but never do. This is a great thing.

I really like this idea! It actually inspired me to start sorting through my freezer and getting rid of/using the straws and eggs I haven't touched in several game/RL years.
