My husband and I just witnessed a family's dog get hit by a truck.. the truck never stopped and we were left picking up the pieces for the family because they were devistated... The teenage daughter also watched it happen as she was trying to catch the dog who slipped out the front door.. getting back in the truck after taking the poor pup back to the family's house, my husband and I just sat there for a moment in silence and tears.. my heart is broken for this girl who just lost a part of her family.. I gave them our numbers before we left and told them if they need help with anything, to not be afraid to call us, even if it's just to talk! But this definitely affected both my husband and I to the point I'm just sitting here dazing off into space for the last 45 minutes and my husband walked away and started working on the goat's pen just to keep his mind occupied...

RIP Logic.. You were a beautiful boy =((

Oh no! What a terrible and sudden loss :( It must be very jarring for both you and the family, sending lots of love to everyone affected.

There should be a special place in hell for people who don't stop after they have hit an animal. X(

I'm so sorry for you and the family. I work at an emergency veterinary clinic as a technician on the weekends and we see horrible cases from a 2 hour radius here in southern Alabama. I've come home from work in tears several times. It never gets easier. :( Prayers for that family and their sweet furbaby.

I truly feel like we didn't do enough for them even though we did everything we could for that family.. we seen the mother moving him off the road when we pulled up and jumped out and my husband instantly ran up and grabbed the daughter before she could see her dog while I just grabbed the mother who was clenching onto me for dear life... Someone gave us a poncho to cover him in while we sat with Mom and daughter as they said their goodbyes... Once the girl's aunt got there, she took Mom and daughter back to the house while husband and I put Logic in the back of the truck, I sat on the tailgate while husband drove us to their house and the entire time I'm looking at this beautiful dog who was just ripped from the family who loved him so much! My heart shattered and today just hasn't been the same since.. it's hard to smile, it's hard to laugh, it's hard to do anything right now..

I’m so sorry for everyone involved! I know it’s no consolation but it sounds like you did everything you could and more than most would do @Bambi. Definitely made me give my fur baby a big hug when I got home. I can’t even imagine that happening to him. I’m glad people like you and your hubby are out there.
