I’m struggling deciding what to call these two horses. Are the black. Or are they bay. First two pictures are of a 4 year old mare
(It’s not a winter coat. Because she can be almost pure black in summer the bay a week later)

The last picture is of the mustang I just bought. He looks black but after having the mare above I wonder if he will change like she does

The first one looks bay, I think the second is black though

Or is that all the same horse? The last horse anyway I meant was the black looking one

They are different lol. I figured so. Just wanted another opinion.

I read your post better now, yeh the mare in the first picture has the bay/brown muzzle, the horse in the last picture although he could fade, doesn't seem to have the same bay/brown muzzle so I'd say he is black

I'd say the mare is brown, because of that muzzle, but the mustang is black with sun fading
