Breeding Season Angst
-
Soo after spending a lot of money breeding three babies to paper this mare, she only papered Red *facepalm*: http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2398072
Ive bred 2g blue mares before with similar papered studs....anything I might have done wrong with her?
Here are her babies :)
3 Wicked Desire - survived all tests and carries Sb1 + frame (From Brood Sire Tokyo Sunrise
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2719248
Wicked Wolf - survived the tests but papered way below his sire (From Redbud's *Star 2g stud Bad Wolf)
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2719249
Wicked Love - nicked at the first testing and papered worse than his sire (Also from Redbud's KP stud JS Love Me True)
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=2719250
**note to Redbud, if she sees this post: yes, I will be sure to YUMM these boys once you've seen them :)** -
No clue what you could have done differently but the one 10.6 baby, I would have known from that baby that she would likely paper red.

Just because both parents are exceptional level breeders does not mean the resulting intact foal will be a superior breeder. The fact that she made it through all testing intact only means she is not significantly worse than her dam. Just as colts can comparison test about as good as their sires, fillies can be only about as good as their dams.Craven Hill - 86081

Red is pretty normal for gen2's unless by A papered foundie etc
-
I have gotten reds from two boosted foundys before. She is quite the looker :D
-
I'd honestly be surprised to see her paper anything higher than Red based upon her parents. It uncommon for a 2g mare to go Blue unless her parents are boosted Exceptionals, and even in that case, she'd have to be bred to high quality studs.Imation Stud ID# 2609

It's not that uncommon for blue papered mares to come from unboosted ExPro/ExPer stock. Half of my foundations are boosted yes but the other half are just pretty ExP horses and I only keep blue 2nd gen mares. I get mares like this a lot of the time.

In saying that I Spay a lot of Red papered mares every breeding season too. If she is one that you really want then you could try getting 2 more foals with PT's of 10.5+ and repapering her. If she's not then I'd just Spay her and add her to the show string.

Blue is certainly possible but reds are still the norm from unboosted stock I reckonThanked by 1Raina
