New Loud Dapple Babies!
-
Where did the old dapple thread go? (I must be blind because I couldn't find it earlier) Anyway, this second gen stud of mine just aged up:
SH Hexam. His quality is terrible because his dam failed papering :)) but I am using them exclusively for my big DP project (breeding for color only) and some colors are just hard to get in foundations without GMT money!
I've just started trying him with some of my 2g mares now that I can, and he's given me a bunch of colors I was missing, and so many dapples!!
SH Diamond (this filly.... I'm speechless)

They are beautiful. Good job! :D

They’re so beautiful. What gene causes dapples?Licensed for Onyx, Watercolor, Plaid, Mushroom, Splash M, Phantom Autumn, Ice 4, Ice 16, and Chinchilla - ID: 256300

@Sugarbread Thank you :) always a happy surprise when you get what you're breeding for, haha!
@LCorona001 in this case DP is a large factor in the appearance of dapples (although dapples are a bit mysterious in that they can also appear without it) :P Generally however, the more sooty or darker the horse the better!
Edit: other genes definitely contribute as well, the silver and nd1 that several of Hexam's babies have make the dapples pop out even more!Post edited by Heartwood at 2019-08-02 18:43:52ID: 247225

I have a few liver chestnut goals and none of them have dapples :( but I’ve seen and some actually have parents with dapples on their liver chestnut coloringLicensed for Onyx, Watercolor, Plaid, Mushroom, Splash M, Phantom Autumn, Ice 4, Ice 16, and Chinchilla - ID: 256300

If you reroll any liver enough you will eventually get dapples. It's really just luck of the draw as to whether or not they appear on the first try.ID: 247225
