Realized some things from my school years (sorry for the long post)
-
I have been playing this game for a while now and have learned a lot about color and breeding. Which has made me realize something from when I was in school.
My best friend in high school had her own horses. When I met her she only had 2. A red mare and a big gelding; her dad said he was black but thinking back I think he was actually brown, as he always bleached out durning summer. They ended up breeding the mare twice while I knew her, to a Palomino stud hoping for a Palomino colt. They kept saying "she (the mare) has Palomino in her pedigree so she is a carrier and should be able to throw a Palomino foal". Both foals were red and the dad was actually super mad.
Since playing this game I am realizing how much he didn't know about breeding and care. At the time I thought they knew everything. My friend had been riding since she could walk and owned her own horses just as long; at the time I had only been riding off and on once a week for a few years and never had my own horse. Our senior year I started looking for my own horse to buy and her dad actually tried to talk my parents out of letting me buy a horse. He told my friend to talk me out of even wanting one. Which ended our friendship as I did end up buying a beautiful black tobiano gelding. I loved my boy and even though I don't have him anymore; I would have missed out on so much if I had listened to them and not bought him.Post edited by Wingedeagle at 2019-08-24 07:12:56 -
My farrier came to trim my two horses feet last week and I was talking to him about sending my paint mare to him to get trained and how I eventually wanted to breed her but I wanted a big doppy baby.. he said that he had a 16.3hh palomino stallion and I made the comment "OOO! A Buckskin paint baby!" And he said that we'd end up with a palomino baby... I tried to explain that it depends on my mare if she carries a red extension or not.. this game really makes you look at all horses in your life differently
