How do public brood mares work?
-
@AlloraKerrhy Just like breeding to a stallion does. You breed one of the stallions you own to a mare up for public brood and you keep the foal.
-
Go to the mare's page and scroll down, and the will be a "breed to this horse" button. Click that and then scroll all the way back up and there will be a menu where you can pick your stud and name the foal and another button to click

It's been a while since I've done this, but I think these are the steps.
Open the page of the mare that's up for public.
On the Info tab, scroll down to find the breeding price.
It helps to have a search of stallions that you want to use open.
Select the stallion you want to use and open his page, for reference.
Click Breed to this Horse button.
Enter a name for the foal in the top options for live cover breeding.
(There are also places to use to breed with a straw or to create an embryo.
These two require Basic or Premium upgrades.)
Click Create Foal.
The foal will appear.
I actually went through the procedure so my description would be accurate.
I selected this mare from the public brood possibilities.

I did a search for my exceptionally perfect stallions to find a mate for her, and selected this one.
Shadowed Comet
Here is the resulting foal, a cute bay roan A papered colt. It was a lucky cross.

On the other hand, if you want to put one of your own mares up for public brood, go to her page, on the Control Panel find the box for setting a brood price for a mare of a stud price for a stallion. Enter your price and click Set Breeding Fee. The horse will appear in the search results for public brood mares.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2019-09-02 11:59:25
