Any advice for a bad toothache?
-
I need to have a tooth pulled, and I can't go to the dentist until next week. I have been taking advil and Tylenol, but I am still in excruciating pain. Any advice on what to do is greatly appreciated.
-
Try warm water and see if it helps, just drinking hot tea or hot lemon water always helped my teeth. Or go for the opposite if it feels better and try a milkshake or something cold (Then you have an excuse to eat a bunch of ice cream :)) )
-
Also I've heard sucking on whole cloves will numb a toothache. I've never tried it myself so I have no personal experience with it.
-
Maybe try Orajel and Sensodyne tooth paste. Also, try eating soup and soft foods and not crunchy or salty food. Hope you feel better soon.
-
Orajel won't do anything. Tylenol and advil barely help
I'm eating an icecream cone and I got a 26er of whiskey. I am in so much pain. :( -
Thanks for the advice, by the way, lovelies.

The dentist’s office should be able to give you some advice over the phone for until you come in. They’re usually happy to help if you ask.

Take a big wad of toothpaste and keep it on the tooth for a while. Or strong mouthwash. It gives a short relief if you haven't got anything else. And if you can't get to your dentist within a few days, see your doctor to get some stronger pain killers while waiting.
Tooth aches are the absolute worst. I have extremely bad teeth and they were extremely close to eachother, so used to get holes all the time, in addition to having an insane fear of dentists (thanks to the old "school dentists" we used to have here - they were true sadists). Thankfully I havent had any holes for 10 years now.ID 195859 -
Wet a washcloth and microwave it for 30 secs. A small rice/bean bag (a small version of the type that goes over the shoulders) works even better, holds the heat longer.
I can sympathize. I have horrible teeth too, have had many root canals and several teeth pulled over my life, with dental visits ranging from horrifying to acceptable. And then I had dental surgery to remove a cyst from my teeth roots and sinus cavity a few months ago. Since then, my teeth flare up something horrible every few weeks, the heat is what works best for me. Plus a lot of Ibuprofen and nasal decongestant.
Distractions are great too. Go do something. Not take a walk or a drive, too much empty time to think about the pain. Go clean out a closet. Reorganize your collection of whatevers. Clean your tack. Make a detailed spreadsheet of your breedings for the rest of the year. :)Bluegrass #143376 * Specializing in Iced Axiom (ExPro Cobs) and Iced Phantoms (PF Riding Ponies)

Clove oil can help numb a painful tooth, but it DOES taste like clove oil.ID #238663, she/her pronouns
