I used to use a spreadsheet.

Each tab I had a different generation. I also listed any straws or eggs from my lab.

I’d go through and pair up everyone and make a master list. Then I would use the sort button to sort all the pairs by stud name and breed each studs mares alphabetically to make it easier to find them on the drop down menu on the studs page.

Now though I have to many so they all get tossed into pastures of their generation and line and bred to whichever of the 1-3 studs are in with them.

I use spreadsheets. One tab for each generation. Stallions and mares on different sheets. Each horse's name has a link to the horse's page in the game (I was very proud of myself when I worked out how to do that!) Colour coding for horses that may not make it through rollover. Column for eggs/straws. Another column for genetic coding with potential lethal genes in red so that I can watch out for possible problems in breeding. I think I'm a nerd! :-B

I have a stallion roster that I keep on paper. The roster is organized by generation. Each generation has a minimum of 9 stallions. Some generations have more than 9 stallions because there's more than 1 pasture for that particular generation.
Let's say I have 9 boys for the foundation pasture. The roster for that generation has 3 per season, and I rotate the boys. A set of 3 this season, 2nd set of 3 next season, final set of 3 for the 3rd month before the 1st set of boys are used again in the 4th month. That way, I make sure that all my boys get some hot dates and a chance to prove their quality.

Other than that, I just toss the boys into pasture and click breed. I don't plan breedings anymore, don't have time for that anymore.

@Bambi207 and @Natalya1917 I do the same thing! I match generations with lines and I also have a pasture that I test a few of my studs in to see if I get the color outcome. In my pasture I have so many different colors of mares, I try to keep a variety.

I don't breed for very specific colors. I just chuck the boys into pasture and see what I get. However, I do require that the stallions that I keep have specific genes from their sire lines. Like my WW sire line - all the stallions must have the Wrong Warped gene, and so on.
