The weekly net profit is determined by show winnings minus entry fees over the last 7 days. If you didn't do any showing, it changed because shows from 8 days ago dropped out of the calculation. The number that really tells how much money you are making though is the weekly show bonus, which is 60% of the combined points of all horses you own.

You gain exp from creating or breeding horses and loose it by selling horses in he auction. The only thing the exp levels do is give 1 extra stall in you primary barn for every other level, so isn't really critical to track it.
