DIY Horse Obstacles
-
I would like to start making my own horse obstacles. Main things I want to make are cavalettis and desensitizing stuffs. I have created a pintrest board to help keep track of some idea I want to do here http://www.pinterest.com/equinefun/ .
Has anyone else created there own stuff or have any ideas or website to add? Would love to hear about other fun stuff to do. -
We made our own jumps. Just takes some 4x4s for standards, 2x4s for standard bases, larger diameter PVC pipe for rails and the plastic jump cups.
Other than that we made some XC jumps years ago, but keep can't quite detail those very well as they were mainly made from repurposed stuff.
My next project is making some stuff for desensitization, like a lot of the things you have on your board.Imation Stud ID# 2609

Pool noodles & streamers! You would be amazed at what you can do with odd stuff from the dollar store. You can use the pool noodles with home made jump standards or a wooden fence. Use a loooong nail and make it like a "car wash" with three on either side and your horse has to walk through them with the noodles brushing their sides. I'm one of the poor horse people that scrimps and saves every dime I can to feed my girls (what I can manage not to spend on this game, that is!!!) so I LOVE coming up with cheap/free tricks to train the horses or dog. Never fails! If you can walk through a dollar store with an open mind and a keen eye you will find tons of ideas that won't cost much at all.Specializing high quality dark horses with lots of chrome.
