Who should I enter into shows?
  • I remember reading a long time ago about people looking at their horses and seeing if it was worth entering them into shows or just keeping them around for the points. What is the best way y’all have found to do that? What are your criteria for showing, keeping but not showing, or just selling them off?
  • With todays showing system, you best bet is to show everything. A horse have to be leveled off and placing dead last in every show to not make money. Even after levelling off they can suddenly earn a point or two and start earning more points.

  • The old show system required players to keep a closer eye on when to show a horse.

The new system has much cheaper classes and it doesn’t matter as much where the horse places as how many points a horse holds.

Unless a horse places last they will earn points and every week 75% of the horses points held will be deposited into your account ( the money is deposited daily but the calculation is:

    (points held) x 0.75 = weekly show bonus / 7 = daily show bonus

  • Awesome! Thanks to both of y’all for explaining it! That makes my life way easier since I don’t have to sort everyone.
  • Nice answers, but I have another question. How many chances do you give a horse before you give up on showing. For example, if a horse places dead last 5 or 6 times in a row.
  • Honestly I show the horse constantly until they pass out of the game but I have a large barn and don’t notice under performers as much because the other show horses cover the costs.

But if I had a smaller barn I would just look at the horse.

How old is it? Unless it’s leveled off and not adding any points to its show scores it could just be having rotten luck.

A lot of higher PT horses train up so many points per week they level up into last place every show for months. But once they get up amongst their peers and start to be competitive they earn more points per show and will make up for the journey.

Lower PT horses take longer to level up and out of each show level that they have a chance at being competitive before they move on and will earn more points as they age but won’t reach the higher shows so won’t add as many points per show to their total points but will often cover for the high PT horses show costs until they start to earn for themselves.

You really can’t tell how good a horse will show until it levels off. Then in the old system if a leveled off horse was placing last I would get rid of it but now if I had a smaller barn that needed to watch its show horses to keep horse numbers down but daily bonus up I would go through my older leveled off horses and compare their total points and daily show bonus against the weekly costs of showing that horse.

The highest showing horse only costs 140hbs per week to show so it realistically only needs to have 187 total points to pay for itself to show that week. That’s not a hard goal for a leveled off show horse to achieve. I’d expect it to have double if not quadruple those points by the time it levels off
