I have this guy who is in the auction today and has all four darkening genes

And this guy has at least three, possibly four, but it's hard to tell under the pearl. He's old enough to breed this season, the first two are too young still

Um I was under the understanding that flaxen was a recessive gene and it had to be ff to show on a red base? It's what the gene lab says anyway.

It's ok, same way I felt for awhile! learned a few things the hard way and then spent hours reading through the genetics guide and playing in the lab is pretty fun( when you actually have GMTs, lol) Flaxen makes the manes n tails of chestnut or other red based horse a few shades lighter than the horses coat so that can be a sign for flaxen as well(and being ff)! Black based horses can carry it but would show it either.

The second liver chestnut I posted, the colt, was not in auction and is still available
