Brown & At allele
-
Hello there!
In real life is the At allele really responsible for the brown coat color in horses? -
Yes, the At allele has been identified. Here's a link to Ammit's discussion of the A gene in our Genetics Guide.

She has it located under "Documented Genes" not Hypothetical.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2019-11-16 06:34:26 -
Thank you so much!
The reason I ask it is, have you noticed a certain group in a certain social network, saying At is a "fraudulent" issue? -
As far as I know, there is no one who can test for (what they believe to be) At at this time. There was a genetics lab that used to say they could, but that turned out to be very unsuccessful to say the least. There were horses that had been tested AtAt with offspring that did not test At, and At horses with parents that did not test At.Post edited by Maribo at 2019-11-17 05:19:16ID 195859
