G3s paper cutoff - B/Red or A/Blue?
-
On a line that's not started from exceptional creates, where the foundations are all C/yellow and G2 are all B/red, do you require your G3s to be A/blue, or give it another generation at (presumably a higher version of ) B/red?
This is assuming all foals test superior to their parent.ID #238663, she/her pronouns -
Basically I'm hitting a huge bottleneck in my G3s and I'm wondering if it's because I'm being unrealistically strict.ID #238663, she/her pronouns

For mine they need to be A/Blue at 3GThanked by 1PersianPenName

You'll find the farther into generations you get the less babies pass your expectations but those expectations are what keeps your lines moving forward

Thank you, that's very reassuring :) I bred a ton more G2s this last month, so hopefully that'll help.
I mean, I'm also requiring them to be hom S+ so only a quarter of them will hit that anyway, so probably the papering requirement isn't my problem here XDID #238663, she/her pronouns -
I guess I'm looking back because I restarted my liver lines to be completely in-house last january, and I have... 7 whole G3s to show for it. But, on the other hand, I also only found out about egg collecting this last month, so that explains a lot.ID #238663, she/her pronouns

Most of my lines are C/Yellow, and I expect my 3s to be A/Blue. It is a very small number of horses that are getting through, but I’m getting nice horses so I’ll keep going with it.

All of my 3Gs are no required to be Blue/A, I haven't had too much of a problem if I stick my 2G red mares in a pasture and let them get their 30 days and stick a perfect stud in there to match, it gives a good handful of Blue/A 3Gs lately! Pastures are wonderful if you're having a hard time getting your 3G's up to par :)
