Uneven pedigrees?
-
I’ve heard (well, read, technically) people say they don’t do uneven pedigrees. I’m afraid I’ve not paid that much attention thus far. What difference does it make if you do or don’t breed evenly? I’ve not noticed a huge difference in intact foal rates between, say, foundation/foundation and foundation/2g crosses, and my 2g/2g crosses didn’t seem to paper much higher last month, but I have a rather small sample size.

Even or uneven pedigrees are totally a personal choice and you do what makes you feel happy while playing the game! Some people (especially those of us with ocd) like to have even pedigrees for the look of it and it does help to get intact foals when you breed similar quality horses together (yellow to c, red to b, blue to A, gold to star). Some players do what is called "boot strapping" where they breed high quality stallions (star) to foundation mares to produce a great show herd. :)Specializing high quality dark horses with lots of chrome.

I definately prefer even over uneven and have made it a breeding goal but like a fool I forgot that not everyone breeds that way and didn't put it on my wish list that I turned in! I was sooo excited about it and didn't want to miss anything on there then don't put ONE of MY MOST Important goals for breeding on there and I can't change it now! Not sure what to do about it because I don't use anything that is uneven and I don't want to have to just snip or sell what ever my SS gets me?Celestial Angels, The Balinor Breed! Since this is a much older community in terms of active server time (HJ1 existed for a long time before HJ2 came into being), if someone wants to sell breeding stock, it is best to have those even pedigrees if you want as many buyers as possible. If it's just for show stock and private barn lines that will never leave, uneven is fine.
Of course, if you do want uneven pedigrees, then have at it, since it's your game, your barn. Just don't expect those horses to sell well.Post edited by Forestshadow at 2019-12-06 14:02:34Thanked by 1SharayahStables -
I like Paper and Generational Even Breeding. Even if I have a A and B, I won't breed them unless they are the same Generation.
This is just a personal preference. Now, if you look in my "Foundation" Pasture, you will see I have some foundation mares, all different Papers, breeding to a Star stud. Like High Five said, that is bootstrapping, and I am simply doing so to keep my show horse numbers up, but, also to sell in the auction.Player ID #239177. Breeding Rosales Warmblood Horses.
