I put a double strand of chinchilla on this horse and had no idea it would turn the horse white. I lost my pretty chocolate palomino to a white horse. I didnt want a white horse. I'm about ready to cry, I was just wanting to put stronger dapples on it as that is what chinchilla seems to do. I obviously didnt understand the nature of the beast.

Should i have only put one on it? I'm so upset. I spent $30 on something I dont even like. :( Can I take one of them off? Will that help?

Chinchilla turns an “ee” horse white. Chinchilla eliminates all brown coloring. You’d need to put it on a silver black or something similar to get those dapples. Message Ammit exactly what happened, she may be able to help you.

When I did a search for color “chocolate” and homozygous, all the resulting horses were white unless they had another modifying gene, like nacre or thunderstruck.

I sent Ammit a private message. I'm just so upset and feel so foolish. I had no idea how chinchilla worked. The last thing I wanted was a white horse.

I just replied to your FB post too but if you breed for warmbloods I have a warmblood Dark Chocolate I could part with :) And if you breed for a different bone I could GMT her.

Don't feel too bad. I did the same thing on HJ2. I actually learned to love my "ghost horses" haha! But I have found Silver Blacks are the most dramatic with the beautiful dapples :) That's what the example image in the RGS is.

For the record, if you only added one chn your horse would have stayed looking the same. Chinchilla only shows up if it's hom.
