Later tonight while I’m at work it will officially be 13 years since I was sitting in my dads basement googling animal games.

I’d gotten into the habit of joining a new game or two during school holidays but for one reason or another barely make it to the next holiday before loosing interest and go searching for a new one the next time. I had joined so many pet, dog and horse games up to that point and a few stuck around longer than others before I gave up on them.

The 2 I joined that night probably stuck around the longest but I never thought that one would last over a decade and still be going strong. This was also the last time I googled animal games to join.

Like any relationship there have been highs and lows. From logging in constantly through the day to barely twice a month and thinking I am busy outside of the game, maybe it’s time to close down my barn. But what keeps bringing me back is the community. Even when I was least actively playing I would still go through the forum and read all the posts.

When I thought of quitting I’d think but it’s only a few months until secret Santa. Wait until then! This time of year has totally grown to be my favourite time of year because I can splurge and spend my game money on someone else (even if I have yet to be paired with someone who also breeds Grullos) each year I have to re-educate myself on DP and Snowflake (4 of my 6 SS’s wanted one or the other or both!) I don’t breed for either so I find it difficult to be able to tell whether a horse has it or not.

The progression of this game has been amazing and also taken a big role keeping me sticking around. I mean what will Ammit come up with next?

The horses have come a long long way from the days of paint chips and line art horse heads. Several times lately I’ve opened a horses page just to have my breath taken and just stare at how pretty the art has become.

While I miss the more hands on show system I also couldn’t imagine having to hand enter my barns again and individually updating each show result in my spread sheets.

Of course the changes helped my barn grow really big and for a long time now I’ve been somewhat actively trying to reduce my daily show bonus to 150k (because I found you really can have too much money) by selling off pointed show horses cheaply. Although since my laptop died over a year ago I have found that much harder to do on my phone.

I’ve had lots of fun over the last month (ok and over the years) sending moneygrams to other players who I notice that have been active on the forums and working towards a goal but not quite there yet, or who are struggling in real life, or being charitable themselves.


I’m really excited that just in time to ring in the new year I have emptied out 2 - 1000 stall barns of show horses and reduced my bonus to 165k (my next goal is 100k, I plan on sending another bunch to the auction in the next week or two) I’ve also just finished completely emptying my foal holding barn of all the 1-4year olds that have been waiting for testing and culling. For the first time in a long time all of my mares and stallions have been comparison tested, have their breeding prefixes added and are all sorted into their generations barn.

Next on the list is to empty out my AI lab of all the straws and eggs that I’ve been hoarding and to thin out my largest generations so I can resort my pastures to fit in all the amazing new foundation studs I’ve gotten or made in the last few months. But I’ve got started on both goals. I have started a hoard of embryos and posted a sales add for 2nd Gen mares
