Get to know you straws giveaway (DONE)
  • I want to offer some straws from one of my GMT projects as a get to know you thing if anyone might be interested, he is homozygous splash, homozygous w20, homozygous DP, homozygous KP2, and homozygous phantom bats, so I think that means to use his straws you do need to have the phantom bats license. Let me know if you would be interested, I'm happy to give out a straw to anyone who would like one. Please include your user ID if interested, or just answer the question if you aren't!

Edit because somehow half the post got deleted:

I'd like to hear about your real life horses or pets! I am terrible at getting to know people so this is my attempt. I grew up with horses and dogs and I have a 6yo Morgan mare, a 1yo Brittany dog, and a 9yo Havanese mix. They're all super great! My Brittany is obsessed with horses and even loves just watching videos of them, haha.

    This is the stallion:

  • Wow the only phantom license I have haha pure luck!

I have an almost 4 yo pembroke welsh corgi who is my world. You can guess his name from my handle hahaha we do dog sports together like barn hunt, dock diving, and fast cat. He also loves a good belly rub, doing tricks and going for hikes but honestly he just loves to be where I am and do anything together

  • How fun! I love any excuse to talk about my pets! :))
My partner and I have 3 pets - a rescue dog and two rescue kittens. Peach is our 60lb, husky x staffy mix, and she’s approximately 2-4 years old (gotta love shelter dogs!), and her favorite things are water (drinking), her Bullymake toys, and us (she has pretty bad separation anxiety). Our kittens are 5-month-old DSH brothers, Roux and Casper. Roux is a ginger tabby, and Casper is a flame point. Their favorite things are climbing (furniture, people), their “cat dancer” toy, headbutts (Roux), water (sink/bathtub, Casper).
We also had my sweet, fluffy tabby cat Abbey until she passed away at the end of September from cancer. She was with me all of her 12 years, and was my heart cat. The boys have big shoes to fill!

Thank you for the opportunity to blab! :))

  • Ooh, @FallOutRoyale, what is a cat dancer toy? I've been trying to find a good gift for my mom's cats since I don't think she has many toys for them!

  • It’s basically a wire with some pieces of rolled up paper that slide around on it, and they love it! I use it like a lure toy :)

  • Aw Chesneythecorgi, he's so cute! I'm glad the foal turned out well!

Awesome, thanks for the link for the cat toy! I'm gonna order one!
  • I don't need any straws (swimming in a ton of them right now lol) but wanted to share mine. Growing up we had a farm with horses, cows, pigs, chickens, rabbits, dogs and cats. My first horse was a Polish Arabian out of gdansk who is out of Bask, I was around 6 or 7 when his previous owners had boarded him and a couple other horses on our property, they eventually sold him to us about a year after they started boarding. We also had another Arabian who had been abused prior to us getting him as a yearling and he was skittish towards literally everything. And a 30+ year old OTTB who had also been abused prior to us getting him, he was over 800lb underweight, missing an eye, looked like an almost 17h (might have been taller) walking black skeleton. The people we got him from were trying to use him as a jumper, which he was horrible at so they decided they didn't want him anymore. Then we got 3 Bashkir Curlies as yearlings. We had raised Scottish Highland cattle. And most of our pigs were bred and raised for 4-H and food.

Currently I have just a cat and a 9 year old Bullmastiff, plus 2 kids. Eventually I want to get another horse, but can't have farm animals on my current property per city rules so it will have to wait. I've also had ball pythons in the past as well :)

Here's my bullmastiff, Dozer (Hopefully the link works). He absolutely loves anything and everything that moves or breathes lol

  • @chesneythecorgi - what are barn hunt and fast cat?

I love reading about people's pets, and talking about mine!
I have a three-year-old (still call him a baby, and definitely count him in with the pets), two 12-ish year old cats, and a five-month-old puppy.

The baby's name is Shep, and he's a tiny troublemaker. He also has a lot of dietary restrictions, and still doesn't reliably sleep through the night cuz of stomach issues. He sleeps in our bed, to reduce the over-all amount of sleep we lose (and cuz I haven't forced him to start going to sleep by himself yet...), and says the darndest things.
The cats are sisters (probably half-sisters, as their mother was a semi-stray with unfettered access to potential suitors, and they look nothing alike), named Tip-Top the terrorist, seat-thief extraordinnaire & Rafa-monster, the infinitely uncoordinated. They are brats, and have juuuust started warming up to Shep, who's been around for basically three whole years... they are NOT pleased about the puppy (Rafa regularly dive-bombs her. I've had to go pry her classes out of the pup's flank a few times, and once from her face).
The puppy, Puffin, appears to be some sort of German Shepherd mix, with probable lab (based on how her sisters looked), possible Pitt (based on her mom's looks), and almost-definitely some Great Pyrenees out similar breed somewhere in there (she has the double declaws on her hind legs, which are unusual from what I'm told). She's only about 20 lbs currently, but based on typical growth, we're expecting her to end up between 80 & 100 lbs...... She's very bitey, still working on potty training (but doing better with it than Shep!), and verrrry energetic. When she gets her final puppy shots on the 24th, I look forward to talking her to the park a lot - we may even start jogging!

That ended up longer than intended, sorry!

  • @darkpixe barn hunt is a sport in a ring of hay bales in which tubes of rats, rat bedding or empty tubes are hidden and the dog has to find and alert to only the tube(s) with a rat inside. There are increasing levels of difficulty and each level has a certain time amount and amount of rats to find

FastCAT stands for coursing ability test and is a 100 yard sprint for dogs. There is a lure on a pulley system and dogs get points for how fast they run
