Why did horses jump down a show level/grade, then back up?
-
Looking through the show records of some of my older horses, I noticed that some had dropped a level last week for one or both shows, then went back up this week. I spot checked a few other ages, but I'm only seeing it in the 10 year olds and a few 11 year olds. Any idea why this happened?
A few examples:
10 yr olds:

11 yr olds:
FR8462803

When they go up a level they have larger classes and tougher competition, but not as much training as the other horses at that level have. So they lose, and drop back down to the lower level. But in the lower level THEY are the tougher competition with all the training, so they win again and go back up! With some horses who have leveled off in their training they might get stuck at that point, horses that are still getting full training scores will eventually move up to that next level. If any of your horses are inconsistent, that might add another factor to how long it takes to move up.Post edited by ConfluenceStable at 2020-01-16 15:54:53
