Spayed mares and geldings problems
  • Whenever I try breeding fantasy genes they always end up spayed/gelded.
Why does this keep happening? Can anyone help?
This is the stallion, Is he the problem?

  • What are you breeding him too?

I only see one foal bred by you and you bred this 2 generation B Papered stud to a foundation mare. She isn’t papered but is most likely a yellow mare.

Breeding advice compares the foal against both parents and a foal from a yellow papered mare will struggle to be close enough to its 2nd generation B papered sire and will be altered.

You will have better luck with intact foals if you match generations and paper level.

Foundation with foundation, 2nd generation (foal of foundation pair) to 2nd generation, third generation to third generation.

    Yellow/ C, Red/ B, Blue/ A, gold/ star papers
Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes
  • Breeding ability is the factor here. Generation breeding just makes them easier to guess and a lot of players prefer breeding this way. Personally, I just match the paper level and keep foals as follows:

    Starting at the bottom:

    C/Yellow must make B/Red.
    B/Red must make A/Blue.
Once you get to the A/Blue level they may have higher breeding ability, but will paper the same. When this level comes I only keep foals that comparison test superior.

In my time I've found this to yield a decent amount of intact foals. There will still be plenty that hurt when they get altered though. My best advice is to try different things and see how they work for you. Give it a couple seasons, and if you aren't getting the results you are looking for, switch it up.

Happy Breeding and best of luck!
