So what would happen if...

Here is my cherry drop! I breed for DP and, if I’m not mistaken, he’s Hom DP. So, what would happen if I made him also homozygous for pearl? Does anyone have an example of what he might look like? Also, would any liver chestnut offspring show that pearl gene? Thank you! -
Check the search and see if anyone has done that. :xNeed to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

I don't have examples on hand but given that pearl is recessive, the offspring aren't going to show with one copy of pearl unless they turn out hom or have a cream copy as well. But I would be curious to see if the DP wins out over the pearl or not.

Yes, Cherry Drops are hom DP
It looks like a whopping total of three Cherry Drops have had hom Pearl added (put Cherry Drop in the tattoo field and set C and Ccr to "must not have") and all three (one's deceased) have other stuff too and therefore wouldn't be great examples. But here is a homozygous pearl wild bay with DP in her pedigree on both sides. She's also hom sooty, it's not a perfect example, but my guess would be that he'd look something like this

As is, your stallion will not throw liver chestnuts at all because he's EE. All of his foals will get that dominant black base. And since he doesn't have sooty the foals would need both a sooty and a DP from their dams in order to be liver even if they were red based. If you want him to throw livers then I'd suggest you make him hom sooty and either Ee (black based but carrying red) or ee (red based himself). If you go with ee and add hom sooty he'll become a black liver.
As far as pearl and pearl vs. DP, a single copy of pearl does lighten livers somewhat, as we have learned through lab experimentation, but it doesn't make them pearl. As mentioned, they'd need a second pearl or a cream.
Here's a black liver with hom pearl, though, for reference (hom DP, sooty and pearl on an ee horse) -

And a chocolate palomino pearl (his daughter, ee, hom sooty, het pearl and cream, at least het DP, possibly hom DP)

Thank you so much! I think I’m going to GMT him to pearl, I love the look of the bay pearl. For some reason I couldn’t get the search function to work on my phone.

I love bay pearls! This one is regular bay, not wild bay, but she's so pretty that I'll take any excuse to show her off
