Question about PT and points
  • I'm fairly new so can create horses with points and I got one with 798 points...but her PT score is a 3. So does that mean she's going to be terrible at showing but maybe still worth keeping around because she has so many points?
  • The PT score indicates how long they train for and how much they'll get out of training. With a PT score of 3, yes, she will likely level off at a young age (between 3 and 4) at a low level. She could level off at the top of her low level class, however.

With 798, she will have a very high lifetime payout. That's how many hbs she'll generate through her daily payout until she turns 17, assuming she doesn't gain any extra points from showing.

You have a couple of options.
-You can sell her now. A lot of seasoned players will pay 1/2 or more of a horse's lifetime payout for pointed creates.
-As she has so many points, she could replace several horses-worth of points in a single stall, so she might command a premium to that. You could run a forum auction with her. It would probably take longer than a straight up public sale, but if you ran it for about a week, you might get a higher price. What kind of base she's on (an exceptional producing herd helper, a rank special, etc.) or if she's passed Breeding Advice could also impact her premium. I would recommend not using the "auction this horse" option on the horse's page - you can't set the reserve for horses entered into the game auction and you may only get 2500 hbs for her if no one bids.
-Save her. If you wait until she's at least ten, you can send her to the thrice-weekly auction and receive her then-existing lifetime payout. In the meantime, you'll get her daily payout and whatever she earns from showing. You may also be able to use her for breeding in the meantime.

It kind of depends if you need hbs now or later, and if you'd like to use her for breeding or not.

    Thanked by 1ConfluenceStable
  • That was a great exaplanation. Thank you!
  • Alsonif you're patient and only use Exceptional Producing Appaloosa, Exceptionally Perfect, or Exceptional Show herd helpers, they will train longer because those herd helpers have higher PT scores. That will help you in the long run or be an incentive for other people to buy your horses if you choose to go with that option.
  • (Well, exceptional producers may not necessarily be great show horses or train for extra time, but they are popular.)

  • I have ExPro mares with or scores in the 3 -5. Range so just being ExPro doesn't mean they will get a high or score. But in the mare with high points, she is probably worth keeping for the money she brings in.
