Smokey Creme?
-
Can someone help me out with Smokey Creme? I don't breed for dilutes much, I'm more of a liver/chocolate kinda person :)) but I'm wanting to GMT this boy down below a bit with my extra free time. What is Smokey creme? If I remove a cream what color would he be? If I removed both creams what color would he be?
I'm definitely planning on making him Hom KP and possibly Hom DP depending on what base color he turns out to be

Thanks everyone! -
His base color is black. Remove one creme and he'll be Smokey Black. Remove both and he'll be BlackSpiderweb Stables

@Taliesin THanks! The E is what's making him black right? If I remove that he'd be left with two small e's making him chestnut? Since he's a/a
I'm still new to learning genetics and definitely very new to drastic GMT changes -
Smokey Blacks basically look black

So that's what his base would be if you removed a cremeSpiderweb Stables

Correct! If you changed that one E to an e he'd become cremelloSpiderweb Stables

The a/a only matters if he has an E for it to act on, btw. If he was e/e he'd be chestnut no matter what bay genes he had. And if he was E/e and A/a, for instance, he'd be bay. So it's the E that makes him black-based, and then the a/a that makes him actually blackSpiderweb Stables

@Taliesin Ok ok thank you so much for explaining. So let me get this part right :)) I'd just have to change his E/e to e/e and remove his creams to make him chestnut? and if I left on cream on and changed him to e/e he'd be palomino correct?
I think I understand the part about making him black with the a/a and E/e, thank you!
I love Marbled Wings! He's so pretty, I'm planning on making this guy match my new KP lady, so I'm definitey thinking Liver or Chocolate Palomino. Could he throw Livers if I left him Smokey black?Post edited by kgstable at 2020-03-23 11:13:04 -
Correct on all counts!
He could throw livers if you left him smokey black so long as he also has/gets a DP or two to pass on. If the mare was red-based (chestnut, liver, chocolate pali) then he'd have a 50-50 shot of passing on his e rather than his E so the foal would be red-based. So say he stayed E/e and became hom DP - statistically half of his foals, when breed to hom sooty chestnut mares, would be liver. The other half would be black based of some kind, depending on what A genes the mares are hidingSpiderweb Stables

@Taliesin Oh that totally makes sense, he's definitely getting some DP added and the mare I'm breeding him to is Hom DP Liver Chestnut (he portrait hasn't updated but I've rerolled her to definitely look Hom DP)
r Caramel Apple KP
her bay genes are t/tPost edited by kgstable at 2020-03-23 11:16:14 -
She's lovely! So, not accounting for the cremes, half of their foals would be liver chestnuts and the other half would be dark browns. t is brown, and brown gets darker with an a under it verses another t, and obviously with DP. t/a is a darker brown than t/tSpiderweb Stables

@Taliesin Oh no I love browns, now I have a tough decision to make, make him liver, chocolate palomino, or leave him smokey black and get some pretty brown babies :(( hardest decisions ever for someone like me whos so indecisive :))
Thank you for explaining everything, it helped so much! -
