Black looking Liver Chestnut
  • This guy looks black but tested as Liver Chestnut

    Black Cloud of Ki
  • He's Hom DP then! Black livers are Hom DP and Hom sooty! Congrats!
Licenses: Watercolor, Nacre, Splash M, Wrong Warp, Phantom Autumn/Lace/Diamond Sparkle/Web/Hearts/Shamrock/Muddy Puddles/Roses/Critter Tracks/Jellyfish/Birdtracks, Paintbrush Cool, Paintbrush Prism, Plaid, Shatterglass, Inkspot, Toner, Mushroom, DFP2, Onyx, Platinum, Ice 6, Ice 17

  • He's homozygous DP! He got a copy of DP from each parent as well as being hom sooty, so he's even darker than a regular (one copy of DP and hom sooty) liver. We sometimes call those 'black livers'. Here's a few of mine:

Question if I give her a five percent breeding boost will she possibly pass breeding advice?
    @kgstable
  • Did it anyway, but afraid to press the BA or SBA button :)
  • What was she papered at before you boosted her?

  • Then it's really hard to say. She might, she might not

  • I haven't used boosts much, but it's hard to say. If she's at the lower side of the yellow papered spectrum she might not paper up, but if she was close to being a red paper then she would. Have you tested her against her dam to see if she's superior?

  • Bummed to see my Tucson lines get bred unevenly. :( But what a pretty foal.

  • If the stallion was available for public breeding..............

  • @Sharayah Stables: what do you mean unevenly? All foals are out of mares papered the same as the stallion, and within .5 of his PT score.
Satin Fog is about as good as her dam and red papered after the boost @kgstables @Taliesin
  • Uneven generations is what she meant, the pedigree unbalanced, on thr first foal.

  • I think there is a difference in the point of view. One person looks at the pedigree and sees 2 generations on top and one on the bottom. The other person carefully matched papers and PT scores. Both are thoughtful and responsible methods of matching up horses for breeding. Lets respect both methods as being worthwhile.

This is exactly why the rules about no conditions on owners/breeders for publicly sold or standing horses exist.

  • I didn’t know the egg would be used that way. Lesson learned I guess. I’ll probably keep my stock in house after this season.

  • Ah, I was looking at Satin Fog not Black Cloud, my bad. Yeah, I try to do even pedigrees but my liver horses are all almost foundations as I just began the project.
  • @Arrenath if you asked the community there’s probably lots of people who would’ve sold you some liver mares for cheap to go with your stallion!

  • What's done is done. No need for "what ifs".

  • @Lcorona001
Good idea! I just put up an ISO post under the sales forum.
  • No what ifs on my end. I forget how easy it is to be lax with some lines. No worries, I just know better for next time. :)

  • Thanks, Sharayah!
