Bootstrapping?
-
So I keep hearing that bootstrapping can increase showing and breeding ability. This makes sense for showing, but why for breeding? I thought uneven bred horses were undesirable? Thanks!I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me!

There are two ways of doing this. I do it by putting an unevenly bred star stallion in a pasture with yellow and red mares solely to get second gens with slightly better PT scores. I put them all through SBA and add them to the show string.
Formal bootstrapping is breeding high papered stallions to low papered mares, not putting the offspring mares through breeding advice and then breeding the daughters back to the sires. Or something like that. Continuing this process can get the breeding levels up more quickly than sticking to even breeding.
Some players prefer the symmetrical look of evenly bred pedigrees, but Ammit is very adamant that there is nothing wrong with breeding uneven generations. Matching paper levels, regardless of generations, will produce more intact foals than mixing C stallions with Red or Blue mares, for instance.
Breeding horses primarily for sale is not the best way to make money in this game--collecting a strong show string is much better. Unless you have some particularly special, much desired genes, prices for ordinary horses need to be fairly low to generate much interest. -
Awesome, thank you! I was just curious. I am working very hard on building my show herd and I’m almost at 3000 showing bonus, but I need more room to keep building, so I’m trying to make some more money. I’ve actually figured out how to make at least 75K per auction if I do it right!I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it.
