I'm trying to narrow down my Gentle Giants herd (drafts over 16.2 hands over 3 bone density) and I was wondering what 'basic' colors are other peoples favorites? I'm not partial to chestnut (though I like livers) and I think I'm leaning towards either colors with dilution or champagnes on them. I'm also fond of browns though, so I was thinking main mare stock being blacks or bay/browns with stallions being Homozygous for creams or champagnes.

if you mix those colors tho I think you will end up with a lot of chestnuts?

If the stallions are hom cream and hom champagne, you can’t get a chestnut. The foals could be ee, but the cream and champagne will cover it up.

I personally love appaloosa on drafts. I also really like dark colors on them. This is November Rains and I absolutely LOVE her coloring!

I love love love the sooty buckskins--the ones that carry brown? So...why not a lot of brown mares and some double cream studs to get a bunch of those? :D
