Do some of you create horses just for the lottery?
-
Because the auction has pages and pages of horses who aren’t just completely untested, but also don’t even have a generated image. Like the player creating them didn’t wait for their image to fully generate before creating the next one.
While I don’t test all my horses on create spree, I at least wait to see if they look like something I want to test.

Oh, this explains a lot.
I went looking for black based mares but I’m not opening all of those pages to check *shrugs*.
When selling/auctioning horses I always check what they look like first and colour test to see if they have any genes I could use!HJ1: 266615

I create alot of horses. I don't often do more then BA them, but i always generate their image before putting them in auction in case i want to test it/candy pony.
I often don't open all my foal images before auctioning them though. I am definitely a culprit of thatJust fumbling around this awesome game :)

@Nightfall - if you search auction horses with the Blackout tattoo you will probably find a bunch of black based mares that you'll know are E_aa without testing or having to open pictures.
-
I'll usually have a crop of foals that are deliberately bred just to be auction fodder. I'll run them through BA as a courtesy (just in case someone wants one?) but frequently don't even load the pictures. Mine aren't creates though."Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving." - PTerry Pratchett

I don't create horses just for the lottery, and I always load the images on my creates and foals.
-
I don’t always load images on every foal. If they’re 2G and don’t pass SBA, there is a chance I won’t open their page. (I only keep 3G and up for show horses usually)
But probably about 90% of my horses, i at least see what they look like before I toss them in the auction. With the exception of foundations, everything gets SBA. I rarely sell lined horses intact in the auction. -
Someone may be creating to throw in pasture to breed foals for auction. I'm doing that a little on Mesa, but I have been loading all the pictures on mine. It does take longer to make them that way though so they might be time sensitive.
-
I typically will open every horse's page, whether they make the cut or not, so I can tack them up.
The only exception to this is my 100 acre pasture which I use strictly for making auction foals.
It costs 500 hbs to breed each one and the auction buys them for 2500. A nice sum every breeding season.I breed Drafts and star horses :D

I try to gene test foundations just because I wish everyone did before auction. But I also collect browns with no bay.
-
I create horses for surrogates.. I don't bother with loading their images typically
-
I don't imagining anybody would be creating that many just to try to win the lottery, as I don't think you'd win often enough for that to be anywhere close to profitable. But who knows?Spiderweb Stables

None of them were bred, though. It was just a huge mass of horses that had been created but never had an image, even when you clicked in.
-
they may have been looking for a particular gene sequence ; and when it didn't happen just tossed them into auction
-
Not colour tested either. It’s really baffling, but not the first time I’ve seen it.
-
@Taliesin But if you created and did no testing, it would break even. Create for 2500, auction for 2500.
I don't think it's nearly a good use of time, but I am incredibly busy and am always shot on time. Even on Mesa, where I'm trying to raise money for a basic upgrade and a larger barn before setting down to breeding, I'm at least breeding (and loading pictures) before auctioning. (I load pictures because if I create a liver or other rare horse, it would be worth it to forum sale or auction versus auctioning before breeding. I guess maybe that's my version of the lottery, hoping I create a liver?) -
With a cool million (or three) of hbs and hundreds of stalls free to start with, lots of free time, and the occasional candy pony thrown in as well as some good luck with the lottery? Oh yes, it can be profitable.Bluegrass #143376 * Specializing in Iced Axiom (ExPro Cobs) and Iced Phantoms (PF Riding Ponies)

It’s my favourite part of the day looking at Herd Helpers, that’s bad isn’t it? :)HJ1: 266615

If you’re not taking the time to load pictures, you’re definitely going to miss candy ponies. And lots of other fun things like livers.
I definitely play the “try to create a liver” lottery once in a while. :))
Right now, when I don’t space and forget Appy Hour, I play “try to create big spots.”
I just can’t imagine creating hundreds of horses and never pausing long enough to see what they look like. -
When is Appy hour?HJ1: 266615

Today from 4-5pm Eastern time.
If today is indeed Friday. I’m never quite sure anymore. -
Hmmm... I finally know what you meant by lottery, I got a Good China Rank Special for free with a nice lottery win :DHJ1: 266615

Yay! Today is Friday! I have an anchor in time.
I do still work because I’m “essential” but there still isn’t much variance in days anymore. Especially since I’m working more/different days to try to make up for lost income. -
@ChateauAlbere, @Johara oh point. I totally realized that, just... But yeah, if you have the time, hbs, and stall space, I suppose. But still, load them and see! Livers! Big spotty appies! Candy ponies! ExPro ND1's! Whatever genes you like best! You never know!
On that note, I will totally be playing the liver, leopard, big spot, or all three (!) lottery later today.
Also I enjoy that we had to google what day it is.Spiderweb Stables

I stopped opening all my pictures when I decided to be 'heartless' in my culling. Much easier to test the foals from the barn page and not get attached!
I do most of my HH re-rolling when I am getting close to the HBs cap. It's a fun way to spend money, and everyone has a chance to benefit. Whats REALLY frustrating is when I'm trying to spend down my balance, and I win the danged lottery! I know, I know, first world problems! :P

I hope winning the lottery is a problem for me someday too :)) :)) :))
-
@confluenceStable I had to do that earlier with my coloured happy creates. I tested them first and then went in and opened them all, my two favourites are the two that got culled but at least they got tested! :)HJ1: 266615

Yeah I'm not gonna lie, if I don't have barn space and I know for a fact I'm not keeping anything with (or without) x, y, z I'll just mass test and auction whatever immediately jumps out as not being what I want. The photos take a while to load and the horses are pretty so it's a huge investment of time and guilt :-))
