Hey folks - either I'm having a brain fart lol or I just really don't know if it's possible to fix this guy up the way I would like.

GMT Snf 10773978

I bred this guy today and he's PERFECT except for being het snowflake instead of hom. He is out of a hom stallion and a het mare - so he could have gotten the snowflake gene on the dam's side, but didn't.

So - I know if something like this happens with a GMT-able gene, you can go in and GMT on the gene your foal "missed" from a parent for 1 GMT, regardless of what the regular GMT price is.

But snowflake isn't in the GMT Lab. So - is there a way to do the same thing with snowflake? Would I have to pay real$ to add snowflake to him someday on the allele that missed it? Is it even possible to RGS a lined horse?

Or am I just gonna have to love this little dude just the way he is?

I'm following this as I'd like to introduce Appy to my line but only if it's Snowflake, maybe leopard at a push!

Lovely boy you have there, the sire has so many genes :)

Thank you so much @Nightfall! I am so happy with how Sprinkles (haha) came out, he has all kinds of goodies! This is his first season and if this foal is any indication he should have a good future ahead of him making all kinds of cool babies :)

You can only add RGS genes to foundation horses (and not clones).
As of right now there's no way to add the missed snowflake, but I'd just hold that thought for a bit if I were you, with all the changes going in in the lab and gene testing at the moment. Maybe go check out the Facebook, see what's coming

@annismyrph This horse is not a clone. Tali added in that extra parenthetical because even though clones are foundation horses, they cannot be modified using RGS.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant, @ChateauAlbere thank you. @annismyrph, no he's not a clone, I just added that because its come up a few times lately were people didn't realize this, so I figured if I'm spreading information I aught to spread complete information.

Hmm... if there are changes coming to Snowflake I might wait to breed so I can make sure at least one of my lines has it :)

@Nightfall, I mean, we can help you get started with snowflake now if you want. I think I have some het snow foundation mares I'm not using, and I'm sure you can get lined horses, straws, and eggs pretty reasonable if you ask around

@taliesin Ooh thank you. I'd love to take a look at any foundation mares you have. :) I don't know if Snowflake is searchable but pm me any links if you happen to know which mares have snowflake.

I have an HetSnowflake Stud as well as a Het Snowflake fem ; let me know if you want straws from him ( I cant do eggs but I can put her for brood for you )

Just an update on a very old thread - I have been pretty inactive lately ( :( ) so am not sure when the update actually rolled out (maybe at the same time these genes became visible) but snowflake is in the GMT Lab now and my boy is now absolutely perfect :x Thank you Ammit! I'm so happy with him!
