Skewed roan?
  • I see skewed roan mentioned a lot in my Facebook groups and was wondering what that was and if we had anything in the game similar
  • I think if you have a brindle roan horse, you can reroll until you get a similar effect. But we don't have it (yet) in roan itself

  • To answer what it is, skewing simply means that the color pattern does not follow its typical expression. In horses, if colors skew, they frequently skew along the Lines of Blaschko, which are basically the paths that cells take to move around during embryonic development. (Wiki Here)

Most of the examples I have seen in horses is the white pigment or diluted pigment not traveling to where it's "supposed" to be, and skewing along these lines.

At this link, the horse in the bottom left likely has socks or stockings that didn't migrate properly, but it shows the Lines quite nicely.

Catch a Bird was a TB stallion who had a de novo (newly mutated) roan-like mutation. His own pattern was skewed, but his offspring present as typical roans (see Lavender Fields or Lilac in Style (Lilac is here) ).
