Help with GMT on a mostly white sabino
  • I've ran into this issue a few times where my sabinos come out mostly white (which I'm not a huge fan of). I'm not entirely sure what is causing it. I tried rerolling a few times but it stays mostly the same which leads me to believe it's the genes. I know it's different for each horse, but I'm just curious if anyone has tried to GMT one successfully? Is is the w20, KP2 or white factor or just an unlucky Sabino interaction?

Here's one example on here (failed SBA so I'm not obviously not going to mod her but wanted to put up an example from this server.)

The other one that I'm looking at is on Mesa, but very similar. Any idea or thoughts?

  • Have you tried lowering the white factor to light or none? They have Medium and Large at the moment.

Licensed for: All Axiom Genes, All Rainbow Riot 1 & 2 Genes, Splash M, Phantom except for Wisp, All Ice, Mushroom, Onyx, DFP2, Shatterglass, Chinchilla, Platinum and Height Regulator

  • White 20 is an amplifier for other kit genes. I would start by removing white 20 from your sabino lines and then try to keep a lower white factor. Let me find some examples real quick

  • I haven't made any modifications yet because I don't have the GMT's to spare at the moment on Mesa which is where I really need them. Is white factor something that is inheritable? It seems to vary quite a bit regardless of the parents.

I really love w20 and Sabino together with a light and minimal white factor so I would hate to cut it completely. (Sorry these are both from Mesa but it's where I had the best examples) So maybe I should just start with dropping the white factor!

    Thanked by 1HayesStable
  • Your best bet, if you want to keep the white 20, would be to keep some spare GMTs on hand and lower the white factor on foals that pass all testing but have max white
