Filling show classes?
  • I have been taking a look at some of my levelled-off show ponies to see if any of them are performing at the bottom of their class consistently enough to be "retired". In doing so I noticed that if I click on the class results, sometimes the entire class is filled with my own horses. However, other classes have had one or two of mine and a variety of other player's horses as well. It makes sense to me that some of my horses would end up competing since they are all being entered at once (at least from the same barn), but I would rather they end up "spread out" as much as possible to give my horses a better chance at ending up in the tops of their classes instead of competing only with my own stock.

Does anyone know why some classes are filled with only my horses, while others are more diverse? Is there a way to strategically show your horses so that they don't compete with one another as often?

    Thanks!

  • It is exactly as you say: as you enter entire barns at once the classes get filled up with your own horses. Sometimes when another player has entered their horses there is some room left in the classes for yours to fill them up. But as there are so many horses that need to be shown, new classes get created automatically when another class if full. That's why the class is full with your own horses.

To prevent that it would mean that you'd have to hand enter all your horses, as you can then pick in which competition you want them to compete. However, there are only so many competitions per class, so eventually you'll have to fill them up with your own horses to run the competition or wait for others to enter to fill up the class so the competition can run, but that takes a lot of time.

I also try to be positive about it: I just pay for the maximum amount of points to be given to my horses because I fill up a whole class, even if that means one of my horses is dead last everytime. At least there is no one else to compete against that can 'steal my points'.

Another thing that might help is to spread out the different PT's and ages in your barns. If you have a 30 stall barn and all 30 are the same age and showing at the same level (7W for example) they will all compete against each other. But if you have a 30 stall barn and 10 of them are leveled off 7W showers, 10 of them are leveld off 8W showers and a few are still in training so are at different levels then you do not have enough horses to fill up 1 class of 7W or 8W. There is a bigger chance someone else fills up that class as you move on to the the next barn and show the next set of horses.

But it still will happen that you compete against yourself, as there are waaay more horses than classes (and I guess it would clog up the system if there would be more classes and thus more horses that wait in entered shows untill their shows run).

  • You can enter all your horses in shows and then go to “my show entries” under showing on the sidebar and scratch horses out of classes you feel have too many of your horses in.

But rest assured there have been extensive testing of the showing system and analyzing thousands if not millions of show results and they've shown that the odds of a horse placing last against a class filled with your own horses compared to another players horses is the same. Otherwise Ammit would have put blockers in place to prevent one player filling up a show with just their own horses.

So if it really bugs you, spend the tome to scratch classes but it doesn’t really matter either way. The horse will still get the points it’s supposed to get.

  • Thank you both for the input! That makes a lot of sense and I can see the positive side of letting them be entered together. I think I just won't worry about it since it sounds like this happens to everyone!

Thanks again! I'm learning something new all the time :))
