Tell me about your real life ponies!
  • I don’t know about y’all, but I absolutely love to talk about my horse! :)) So let’s take this opportunity and brag on our ponies! Whether it’s a lease horse, lesson horse, a horse you own, or just a horse you spend time with!

My mare is a 15.3hh 12 year old grey Andalusian mare named Dominica! (She is my profile pic!) I leased her for two years before purchasing her in late January. She was always the horse I wanted so bad, but never thought I would ever get to own. In the two years of riding her, she took me from showing at our local open shows, to showing and winning at the national level. Her best discipline is Huntseat, but she is also a super nice Western pleasure horse! She has shown successfully in halter, showmanship, and sport horse in hand as well. We have dabbled in dressage but going sideways (leg yielding) is not her thing! :)) She is a three time national champion and 4 time reserve national champion. I would love to see her and my trainer show at the Andalusian World Cup! While she is really fun to show, my favorite thing to do with her is go on bareback trail rides! She is a fearless trail partner! As she is just so special, *hopefully* next year she will be put in foal to produce my next superstar competition horse!

I would love to hear about your ponies!

Also, am I the only Andalusian lover here?!
  • My horse is hopefully pregnant and is amazing I love her so much. She is a half Andalusian half friesian she looks like a friesian but is smooth like an Andalusian. She is the best. She is 16.1hh and is black.

  • My main horse now is a silver grullo a purchase inspired by this game =D
He was 2 when I got him now 3 and a half and he is going to trainers to be broken in in 4 wks I'm so excited =D

His paddock buddy is a 22yr old standardbred called sonny that I learnt to ride on he has been in my life 15 or so yrs =)

And my first horse is a black/brown standardbred stallion called Bob he is a great kids horse but he is now enjoying retirement with a really good friend of mine =)

And last of all we have a little buckskin Shetland pony with a blue eye she is in her early 20s and has suffered from founder alot in her life so she is more a pet and a small sized friend for my 5yr old daughter who even has her own kid sized wheel barrow and willingly cleans her yard for me =D
  • I have two pasture ponies.. I don't ride much these days but I love their company!

My old man just turned 19 on May 31st.. he's a Bay OTTB.. His name is Zeffirelli (I never changed it from when he was on the track).. I met him as a 2 year old on lay up for a broken shoulder.. his trainer always said he was mean to the point I was barred from going into his stall (which never stopped me lol). When he went back to the track, I would go into his stall while the horses were running and lay down with him in the stall.. his groom seen it and told my mom that he was going to kill me one day.. He ran 3 times; the first time he came in dead last but his last two races which were longer, he broke from the gait in the lead but mentally he wouldn't change leads on the last turn in fear his shoulder would hurt and he dropped to second to last.. I overheard his owner and trainer talking about sending him and another filly to a guy who was a known meat dealer.. being 13, I broke down in tears and called my dad and begged him to let me buy Zeff! He gave his blessings and I talked to my mom who agreed. She spoke to his owner and trainer and they agreed that I would work at the lay up barn as payments! He was supposed to cost me $1500 but I ended up getting him for $300 when the lay up barn was sold! 17 years later and many ups and downs along the way, he's still my main man! I've told my husband to never give me the ultimatum of him or the horse, because he'll lose :))

The other is a 10 year old paint mare named Dakota.
I've had her since she was 4 months old.. there's not much with her... She's actually been the easy horse /:)
