Ice 8 null question
-
I recently paid for the Ice 8 gene on one of my better horses as I thought it needed something else. Also wanted to breed it to my line. However it states that "ice gene in in the null state" What does that mean exactly,as I'm worried about that description as null doesn't sound good?
The horse in question is this one
First Red -
it says : I ce gene Little i is the null state and I has ice 1.
which means I think if there are little i's there is NO ice. if there are numbers there IS ice

"ice gene in in the null state"
Where do you see it saying that? I have no idea what this is?Post edited by Ammit at 2020-06-08 04:27:00Need to contact me? Read this first.

It means that the 'null state' - as in null ice, or no ice - is indicated by a little i instead of a number. So a horse with NO Ice genes would be
Ice: i/i
If your horse only had one copy of Ice 8, it would be:
Ice: i/8 or Ice: 8/i
-
That's great as I did purchase 2 copies for that particular horse, although I didn't realize that the horse also having Chimerism would change the gene that much. I just assumed that bought items would override that. So can I pass these on via breeding? Or have I just essentially screwed myself?Post edited by Michae at 2020-06-08 18:04:27

Your horse will pass on Ice 8 100% of the time. It is homozygous, on both sets of chimera DNA.
