How does Chimera work?
-
Hey, just a quick question about how chimera comes about and is inherited (in game and/or in real life). I think I mostly understand how individual genes are inherited (dominant vs. recessive alleles, homozygous vs. heterozygous) but I get the sense that there is something more that goes into deciding whether a horse is a chimera. Trying to get a better understanding of what is going on. Thanks!ID #265959 | He/him | Breeding Black Satin, Liver, and Grullo Arcturus Horses | Licenses: Mushroom, DFP2, Onyx, Axiom Blue and Green

A "Chimera" is an absorbed twin ; basically In Utero one twin " absorbs" the other and the resulting surviving foal has the chromosomes from BOTH ; so you ll see 2 sets of DNA
they can be no visible pattern showing :

Chimeras are only sometimes an absorbed twin. Any individual with multiple DNA cell lines is a chimera. Horses with somatic mutations are also chimeras. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.
