To the best of my knowledge, Homozygous Sp1 and Heterozygous Sp2 are not lethal, even though that combination produces an all white foal. It's probably because Splash 1 is on the MITF gene and Splash 2 is on a different gene--PAX3^C7OY. I think that's the correct superscript, though I may have mixed up the order.

Lethal White, otherwise known as Lethal White Overo, is homozygous Frame, which causes an incomplete formation of the digestive tract so that a homozygous frame foal would die of impaction colic shortly after birth. I believe that vets often euthanize such foals immediately to prevent a painful death. Frame has been called the Ninja gene in this game because a horse can carry it, but without a white producing gene like the Kit mutations and the Splash genes, there is no visible sign of it. It's a good idea to have some way of identifying a game horse carrying frame like a special tattoo, if you have an upgrade, or a notation in the horse's name.

Many of the Kit gene mutations will be lethal in combination, but those foals die in utero and are never born. There are a couple of charts available to help us avoid those crosses. The only way to have a homozygous frame horse in the game is to add a second Frame gene in the GMT Lab, or to create a Freaky Friday, when that herd helper pops up. That's one reason for the name of the Rank Special. I believe that it shows up whenever Friday the 13th shows up in the calendar.
