    I breed this horse image
    11720151     to my star Midnight Ashes and never got a baby. It said waiting on Server never had that happen before. my Id Number is 268291. If it comes through and it will have a number for a name and not a name. All others are named

    That was the first thing I checked. That shouldn’t be it. W3 and tobiano are a safe cross.

    Tobiano is only potentially lethal with W1 (to my knowledge).

    Yeah, but if the foal got W3, tobi AND a copy of splash, with an extensive WF, it could have too much white.

    Yeah, the amount of white a foal has is what desides if it is lethal or not, so the more whitening genes it have, the higher the risk of a lethal foal.

    Excessive white in any form can be lethal ; if you look at the mares you breed him to successfully ; they were all minimal or none ; and they all threw extensive or large ; it could be the foal just had TOO much white

    Huh. I thought that only applied to potentially lethal crosses. I wonder why I haven’t had any deaths yet? Maybe because of my white factor level requirements for a cross. Hmmm...

    I apologize if I’m coming off as argumentative. I’m not trying to be, I’m just trying to learn.

    This foal by the same stallion is het W3, het roan, het splash, and extensive white, but he’s fine...is there just no real rules for it? It’s just a coin flip?

    @nightphoenix all of the white interactions are a chance, so you could go many pairings without a foal getting excessive white - although like others said not sure what happened here.

    Huh. I guess I’m alright because I like to cross none/minimal with light or higher and vice versa and avoid any possibly lethal combinations.

    Incorrect info in this thread. W3 and Tobiano is a safe cross. The white factor is an issue on risky crosses NOT on safe crosses. Not only that but it is not a chance. There is a specific number factor for each gene and white factor level that stacks up, when you cross over the threshold the foal dies. There is no chance or a coin flip for survival or not. The only chance is what genes and amount of WF a horse gets.

    ETA: Just to be 100% sure I was giving correct info I tested it and there was no issue with the foal. (Wanted to make sure there wasn't an issue with the breeding script)

    Sounds like there was some sort of timeout/server issue during breeding. I reset the mare so you can breed her again.

    Oops, sorry for posting wrong info! I was absolutely sure I had read that if you added other white genes they could still be lethal. So sorry for any confusion!

    The more white genes you add, the more it pushes up your white factor. So it IS an issue but only on lethal crosses. :)

    This was image
    Midnight Ashes b    the stallion. The create did not tell me the foal had passed away. I have had one do that to me. All it said was Waiting on server and nothing else. So I clicked back to my barn and Moved on to other farms. This is the first I have had the chance to get back in the game since this happened for I have not felt good.
