Pasture-bred fillies question
-
Hi all. I just did my pasture breeding, and I PT tested them as I always do for my intact foals. There were several fillies that did not test at least 10 for 2nd gen. Now my question is what to do with those. They have already passed SMA and SAT. Should I keep them or cull them?

PT has absolutely nothing to do with breeding ability ;)ID 195859

It is perfectly normal for 2nd gens to PT under 10. Several years ago someone did an experiment breeding a large number of perfect foundations together and found the possible PT range for the foals to be 8.9 to 10.4. Also Maribo is right about PT and breeding ability being determined separately. Those foals with lower PTs could easily have some of the highest breeding abilities of the lot.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I will keep them.
