  • So I bred this Stallion with the hope of someday getting an A grade SUP son for my liver line and what does he do ?
he gives me FIVE ; obviously i dont need 5 more little boys running around so how do you decide ?

  • With foals that look like those how on earth could you decide?!?! They are absolutely gorgeous! I must say though the 2 Black & White looking ones are Quite Stunning. Wow! Congratulations on your Gorgeous foals.
  • I guess decide if you like KitM or W8 more, and if he needs to be hom satin or not? They're all gorgeous though, that's so hard!

  • Personally for me, When I get stuck with too many I go by pt score and consistency- because in the end, you want the spelds you get down the line to be higher, for a better homebred show stock :-)

  • I’d comparison test the boys to each other and keep the best. I personally would number them 1-5. Then starting with boy 1, test him to 2,3,4, and 5. If any of them are inferior then geld them. Then take boy 2, and test him against boy 3,4 and 5, just continue down to the end. Usually you get one or two boys and who are superior to everyone else. I do this with every generation, and once I have a really good benchmark, I won’t comparison test them against their sire anymore just their generation’s benchmark, because if they tested aga him then they will most likely be sup sire, and if they’re inferior to him I don’t want them as a stud anyway.

  • @westworld but PT score doesn't affect breeding ability - a lower scoring horse may breed higher PT.

@silverstar This is what I do too

Here I would ignore satin and gmt it onto the chosen foal as looks like the mares were Het.

  • That fifth one is B papered, which for me is an automatic cull at gen three, so if you're trying to find the best quality one you could take him out of your comparison list and you're down to four

Also your search confused me for a hot minute, so I made you a new one
